The Doctor Who Appreciation Society is proud to announce The Capitol: 50 Years of DWAS, a full scale two day event which will take place across the weekend of 9th/10th May 2026 at the Crowne Plaza, London - Gatwick.

The Capitol: 50 Years of DWAS will offer a mix of guest panels, on screen presentations, autographs, photo studio, merchandise and more besides. We pride ourselves on offering a well organised convention at great value.

Special events, as well as a plethora of guests, are planned for the weekend with details being revealed over the coming months. Stay tuned!

VENUE

This full scale two day event which will take place across the weekend of 9th/10th May 2026 at the Crowne Plaza, London - Gatwick. The hotel is located just 10 minutes drive from LGW Airport, a mile from from Crawley Station and two miles from the M23 motorway.

The comfortable bedrooms have free Wi-Fi, USB chargers and satellite TV. The Cube Restaurant serves delicious locally sourced food for breakfast and dinner, while drinks and light meals are available all day in the The Olive Grove. Relax and enjoy cocktails on the heated outdoor terrace, while you can enjoy the 24 hour fitness suite.

We have negotiated special accomodation rates with the hotel, who will be offering double rooms for single occupancy at the price of £119.00 and twin/double occupancy at the price of £129.00. Both rates include full English breakfast and car parking. Details on how to access these rates will be provided after registering for the event.

AUTOGRAPHS

Unless otherwise stated, two free autographs will be available from guests signed on personal items.

Some guests will have a separate autograph policy applied, this will be made clear in advance of the event. This may extend to a requirement to purchase an item to obtain a signature or to pay an additional fee. This will be applied to make the number of guests attending commercially viable.

Autographs are for personal use only and some guests may insist on a dedication. If the guest or organiser believes that autographs are being obtained for commercial reasons then access may be restricted.

Tickets for the full weekend are priced as followed:

Adult: £150
Under 16: £100

This discounted rate will increase by £10 on 1st August 2025.

The ticket price includes:

  • Entry to The Capitol 50 Years of DWAS, with Star Guest Q&A sessions
  • Entry to Saturday Night Entertainment
  • Access to Autograph sessions with two free autos from the majority of star guests
  • Access to the Photo Studio where, for a fee, you can get your picture taken with the star guests

All Under 16s must be accompanied by a full paying adult.

Bookings made on or after 2nd May 2026 are excluded from our seven day cancellation period and are non-refundable.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

This tells you about the terms and conditions under which 'The Capitol 50 Years of DWAS' is presented. This is not an exhaustive list, so if you have any other questions, please contact us.

  1. The event is presented by Space Rocket Limited, DWAS acting as an agent only, incurring no contractual liability. Space Rocket Limited trades as 'The Capitol 50 Years of DWAS'.
  2. Any additional services you might purchase from the venue, guests or merchandise dealers (such as food, books, photographs, accommodation etc) are a separate arrangement between you and the vendor, and not part of the event package.
  3. We give no guarantee that the event will actually take place on the date and venue specified or that any advertised guests and features will appear. All aspects of the event, including guests, are as advertised in good faith but circumstances outside of our control may affect what is available. The liability of Space Rocket Limited shall not extend further than the individual ticket price. All aspects of the event are subject to change and cancellation without prior notice, including guests appearances. Event timings as published on our website and elsewhere are a guide only. The schedule will only be available on the day or shortly before.
  4. We will endeavour to make signatures and autographs available from as many guests as possible. However, these may not be part of the admission price and conditions and charges will apply. Guests may decline to sign unauthorised or unapproved items.
  5. All tickets are non-refundable. This is to ensure the financial viability of the event. If you do not wish to proceed with your booking please advise us in writing within seven days of the date of the email you are sent, in order to obtain a refund. Please bear in mind that all guest appearances are subject to change and the withdrawal of a specific guest(s) will not be grounds for a refund.
  6. Photography and audio/video recording within the event will only be permitted within specified areas at our absolute discretion. No recording will be permitted of the main part of the event under any circumstances.
  7. The organiser reserves the right to exclude any person who does not abide by the terms and spirit of the event, with no refund of the booking price.
  8. It is not permitted to bring food or drink purchased outside the Crowne Plaza into the public parts of the venue. Breaching this condition will in turn breach our agreement with venue.
  9. Buying or selling merchandise or trading in other ways, and undertaking any type of journalistic activity, including but not limited to podcasting, is not permitted without the prior written consent of the organiser.
  10. The event is not licensed or approved by the BBC or BBC Studios. It is non-profit making, run by fans, for fans.

If you have any concerns or special requirements, please either contact us or the venue as appropriate, in advance, so that we may make any reasonable adjustment to ensure you can access and enjoy the event.

The Crowne Plaza is a modern venue offering good access for people with disabilities and additional needs.
