Plotlines 7: Spearhead from Space

Spearhead from Space was first broadcast in four weekly parts from 3 January to 24 January 1970. The serial opened Series 7 of the show and was the first to be produced in colour. The serial introduced Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor. It also introduces Caroline John as the Doctor's new assistant, Liz Shaw. Nicholas Courtney reprises his role as Brigadier Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart and becomes a regular cast member beginning with this serial. This plotline breaks down the action for us.

Back when Doctor Who stories were not readily available on video or for TV repeats, one way of getting this kind of information was via specialist publications from either fan organisations or via Doctor Who Weekly/Doctor Who Magazine. The Society reference department had recently been taken over by David J Howe from it's founder Jeremy Bentham. 'Plotlines 7' was David's first significant publication for the department. This is an extract from that publication, which covered all four stories from season 7.
