Although we have an almost complete set of DWAS publications much of what has been printed over the years was 'of it's time' and is unlikely to be of general interest today. Therefore, in order to present the best of what is available we have selected articles, features and interviews based around specific themes and will bring them together here in different categories. There are also a small number of Society publications that we can present in their entirety and some will also be available to view online in due course.

Season 12 - SynopsesView Category

These synopses are amongst the earliest DWAS reference publications. From 1976 - 1979 the Reference Department under Jeremy Bentham, published a expanding catalogue of 'Story Synopsis' giving production information for individual stories along with the Radio Times summary of each episode, and a separate wraparound 'Season Synposis' . They typically cost 12 pence each - plus an A4 SAE of course.

We are pleased to present some further examples of early DWAS publications from 'The STINFO Project'. STINFOs were produced by the Reference Department under Jeremy Bentham between 1976 and 1979.

Elisabeth SladenView Category

Elisabeth Sladen was a viewers favourite as Sarah-Jane Smith, a part she first played in 1974 and which remained with her for the rest of her life. Elisabeth's unexpected death at the age of just 63 in April 2011 was a shock for Doctor Who fans around the world, and tragically came when she was at the height of her re-gained popularity with the success of 'The Sarah-Jane Adventures'.

Nicholas CourtneyView Category

Nicholas Courtney was a viewers favourite as Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, a part he first played in 1968 and which remained with him for the rest of his life. Nicholas' death was a sad moment for Doctor Who fans around the world, as they remembered the Brigadier who first appeared in The Invasion. a character who left a lasting impression on the programme.

ConventionsView Category

The first ever Doctor Who convention took place on Saturday 6th August 1977, and is now regarded as the first ‘Panopticon’. Since then, PanoptiCon has welcomed many guests who have contributed to the long history of Doctor Who: from in front of and behind the cameras, from television, film, radio, book and magazine publishing.

Voices From the PastView Category

The Doctor Who Appreciation Society has always been interested in the viewpoints of the people who have been associated with the making of the series. Therefore the society’s archive contains interviews with actors, writers, directors, producers and crew that sadly are no longer with us. Their views and feelings sadly died with them, but through the Doctor Who Appreciation Society Archive their memories live on. Contained here are just a handful of interviews from the people that made Doctor Who the success that it is.
